Belmont Equity secured Official Plan and Zoning By-Law Amendments through an OMB decision to construct a commercial plaza with over 100,000 sq. ft. of leasable area, located with prime exposure, securing key first-class tenants such as Longo’s, Starbucks, Dollarama and Pharmachoice.
Belmont’s hands-on approach to the development process ensured high-quality design and construction, and the successful lease-up of the project with a strong, complementary mix of tenants. A significant portion of the property was dedicated to the Town of Ajax for open space. The shopping centre has maintained virtually zero vacancy, establishing itself as a premier destination for the surrounding community.
Residential Building
Recognizing the opportunity early, Belmont held off on the final phase of development to secure entitlements for residential intensification.
The property has now been rezoned to allow for residential uses, with Belmont bringing forward a 10-storey purpose-built rental concept proposed for the undeveloped portion of the site. Delivery of this product will showcase Belmont’s forward thinking through thoughtful placemaking to create a complete and integrated community.
